MediaInfo

MediaInfo is a program for obtaining detailed technical information about audio and video files. The program shows what kind of codec is compressed video, with what bitrate, what aspect ratio and number of frames per second it contains. For an audio file MediaInfo shows the codec used, bitrate, language, number of channels, sampling rate, etc.

Features:

Shows the following information:

  • Basic: title, author, director, album, soundtrack number, date, duration, etc.
  • Video: codec, bitrate, aspect ratio, frame rate, flow rate…
  • Audio: codec, bitrate, channels, language, stream speed…
  • Text: Subtitle language
  • Parts: number of parts, list of parts

After showing the information about the file, the program will immediately advise you where you can download the missing codec or player. In addition, all the information can be exported to TXT, CSV, HTML.

  • AC-4: basic detection, raw, in MP4 or TS
  • AC-3/E-AC-3: display time code of the first frame

  • MOV: Decode more language codes
  • MXF: some metadata were missing
  • AC-3: AC-3 actually has no bit depth, removing the default 16 value
  • AC-3/E-AC-3: fix bitrate info (so duration) with streams having a time code
  • AC-3: parse more frames also when in MP4, in order to better detect JOC (Atmos)
  • MP4: do not show audio bit depth if it is the 'default' 16 (value is not trustable enough)
  • ProRes RAW: we know only width and height
  • SubRip: bad handling of files having a quote character
